Title: Sliding while walking?
Post by: lloonnee2 on December 11, 2010, 11:16:06 pm
Recently hit a snag while animating a walk sequence, for some reason my character appears to be sliding over the floor although the bones were moved as though in normal walking. Any tips on how to make it (walking) seem more natural?

Rules are:
1. Contact points of figure with ground (i.e. toes) have to move backwards with constant speed
1. Figure in scene has to move on straight path with constant speed of
how many units one cycle of walk is long/time of a single cycle [units per second]

Grid or helper boxes can serve as 'in scene' reference.

Take a look at:

and

(good tutorial)

For me, I wind up using the graph window thing in Anim8or scene mode to mark where the foot is. Then I keyframe that position. Afterwards I move to the next position in the walk cycle sequence and, using the graph window thing, move the model accordingly. Rinse and repeat for every step. Not sure if you'd want to do something this time consuming though.

That's just the way I address the sliding feet problem.
