Title: My werewolf
Post by: RnDr FOX on March 16, 2008, 06:09:25 pm
I am a noob to anim8or (ive been using it for about three months now) anyway this is my latest project. it is going to be a werewolf when I am finished. this is its head so far its not the greatest but do you all have any suggestions on how to make it better? ive been using line extrusion and I dont know how to get rid of the line in the middle. I will keep on posting more pictures as the model progresses and I will probably have a few more questions on it. But for now I just need a few pointers on how to make this model look awsome. Thanks for your help!
ENJOY!!!

I have a problem, right before I posted this I subdivided the model then saved it and exited out of the program. I DIDNT WANT TO DO THAT!!! Is there a way to unsubdivide the object or am I messed up.

Depends...
If you did Build > Covert to Subdivided, yes.  If you did Build > Subdivide Faces..., no.  Most everyone will advise you to NEVER use the latter.

Anyway, to "un" subdivide your object, double-click on it; the Subdividion Editor dialog box will pop up.  Enter 0 and 1 in the Working and Final Divisions bozes, respectively.

Here is an update on my werewolf I am not 100% happy about how it turned out but I think it looks cool in a way. I still have a little bit more work to do on it. I used edge extrussion and there has to be a better way to do this. I also need to do some reaserch on subdividing, but what do you think?
ENJOY!!!

Looks really good.
I would narrow the width of the body a bit, it looks out of proportion to the head

Hi, I'm a newbie too(abt two months in anim8or).

ur werewolf looks cool, but i think that the head looks a bit 'not evil'. adding some teeth might help. then again, i'm sure you were planning to do that all along.

Ok here is my latest werewolf. I added the arms, fangs, and eyes. All I have to do now is add the legs and maybe a tail. What do you all think? I will take any critiques.

Looks pretty good.
The seam down the middle is a pretty easy fix.

-Select both halves of the werewolf (i'm guessing it's in two parts)
-Build=>Join Solids
-Select all the points down the middle
-Do a Non-Uniform Scale (hotkey N) on only the X axis (so press Y and Z to disable these) so that the points in the middle are an infinitesimal distance apart
-Hit Shift+L to merge those points. If the step above worked well, you could change the distance from .5 to like .1 or even lower

That should do it.

This method is a good way to create symmetrical models without shaping both sides at the same time. You just model half, then mirror it, then follow the steps above. It could have saved you quite a bit of work!

There's the thread.
I don't remember how I did the head, but I do remember that I built the buody as seperate muscle shaped Ngons, and then connected them.

Thanks alot Dasoccerguy I need to remember that it helped out my model alot. No more line :D Where did you learn that? I read through the manuel and I dont remember that.
Xalener your werewolf model was AMAZING :o Is there a tutorial on how to make a body like that because it was an eye catcher. I like how you did the teeth to.
All I have to do now is work on the back (the picture looks deceving but is you saw the back you would screem) and the legs.
What is a good way to make the legs? The one that I made was made with box modeling and it turned out BAD! Any tips on how to make legs that look decent, but flow with the body. Here is a picture of the legs :'(
