I asked this on the beta forum a while back, but patience alone isn't getting me anywhere. Nor Google.
Here's my problem. I have a an HP laptop running windows 7. it has a Mobile Intel 4 Express Chipset family video card. I know for a fact it can run Anim8or, because I followed Raxx's advice and used old Vista dirvers with proper open gl support to get it to run.
- Backup a restore point if you can
- Download and install the intel INF update utility: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18494&ProdId=2991&lang=eng I recommend doing this every so often for any computer/laptop with an intel chipset.
- Download the vista drivers for your intel graphics card, dated back in August:
- for 32-bit Windows 7: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18139&ProdId=2991&lang=eng
- for 64-bit Windows 7: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18141&ProdId=2991&lang=eng
- Disable automatic updates if you haven't already. Just set it to notify you of new updates so that you can select the updates you want to install. This way windows 7 won't install over your vista drivers automatically.
- Completely uninstall your intel graphics card drivers if you can.
- Restart your computer
- Right-click the vista driver setup file you downloaded, go to properties, and set the compatibility to Windows Vista, and then install it.
- Restart and try Anim8or.
Well my hardrive crashed and I had to start from square one, which wouldn't be an issue except the link no longer works. I'm getting desperate, haven't been able to run Anim8or in months now.

So all you need is the drivers in Raxx's post?
That shouldn't be too hard to find. I'm good at finding drivers. :P
-
Yes, that's all I need. the 64 bit one to be specific.

April 2010/December 2009. Try it, maybe?
I'll keep looking.. ^^

Ive actually already tried that one, no dice. the driver has to be at least as old as the one in the broken link, that was the last one with the open Gl support needed.
just getting some ideas
looks like we have a bot. Any mods want to take care of this?

I'll keep searching then. You might try asking someone for the older driver on a hardware/software forum, though.

Can you recommend any good ones? I post at ign, but their pc boards aren't very active.

Try this one: http://www.mediafire.com/?muujnhhjzkw That was an August 2009 release.
If that's not the one you need, you can look around here: http://www.wikidrivers.com/wiki/Intel_GMA_Vista
