Below is a scene I am compiling for my "Corporal Cosmic:" project. So far I have simply added a single "object"... a room with five cylinders as shown. The room will have many more details, but was just getting things in basic order to see how it would render in scene mode.
I am not very up-to-snuff with camera view settings, etc. As you can see, the camera view shows things rather distorted, and not real-feeling. The cylinders look rather distorted and not properly circular.
What is involved in getting things to look less askew?

Without trying, so just a wild guess; pull your camera way back and reduce the FOV to keep the same view size.
I'm guessing that you get the distortion because your camera is too close to the subject.
As I said, just a wild guess ;)

I agree with Lynn... This is what happens if you set the FOV too high. The way perspective projection is simulated in 3D programs is not exactly how we see things in real life and as a result the objects on the side of the screen might get distorted.

You could make everything smaller- anim8or doesn't seem to like large objects and adds more perspecticve with them. Kind of. Just make a big box in perspective view to see what I mean.
