Title: .obj importing as one mesh instead of grouped objects
Post by: Cpt CryBaby on January 26, 2010, 09:56:04 am
Sorry everyone.  I'm a noob and i did search on this.  I also scanned a couple tutorials as well as the manual but it isn't getting through to me.

I create a scene with a sphere and a cylinder.

then export it as .obj

then I open that .obj in a new scene it shows me one mesh.  Not a group of two meshes.

it doesn't matter if i leave them as two separate objects or group them together.  when they come back in there is only one mesh listed in the scene.

I'm missing something simple but can't figure it out.

Also when I bring in a very complex .obj model it does the same thing.

Exporting to .obj joins all the objects in the scene to one object.

You can seperate the objects again, or not export as .obj but if youre only using anim8or, rather import the .an8 file.

actually it all depends on whith version of anim8or and what plugin you are using. If you are using .96 beta and up the .onj export does export multiple objects. also there is an obj script that exports materials and seperate objects.
