Title: Project Opportunity
Post by: mrussum on October 29, 2009, 02:44:56 pm
I've been toying around with Anim8or for a couple days now and I've found it capable of doing what I need it to do. But game development is my thing, not animation. I'm in the early stages of developing a fighting game and need help with the actual character. I'm looking for someone willing to help me by skinning a model of my character to a skeleton as acurately as possible. For anyone willing to help me with this project, I will send you the model of my character in .3ds format. When the project is finished, your work will be credited obviously.

Just a few parameters:

-The Skeleton must control as much of the character as possible.. down to the fingers (not the toes though :P)
- The basic structure I'm looking for is a "spine" bone with collar and hip bones connected to it, and a neck bone that controls the whole head. The apendage bones will be children of the hips and collar bones.. and so on.

..For a bored animator looking for a quick project.

Those interested respond with their email and i'll send you the .3ds model

You can't save 3DS animations, and I doubt you will get the model to work in you game unless somebody has made a new plugin to do it.

from what ive read there are a few different ways to animate for games. you can use bone animation (wich anim8or doesnt export)

but ive seen a script for .3ds that exports the pollies frame by frame. wich you can use.

I think its an alterative method no matter wich way you go. most engines use face or poly detection so i dont know if it matters much on wich you go on. it depends on your engine.

You can use Ani2Pov to export skinned Meshes (bones animations):

i think mrussum has a static 3DS model he want someone to animate. He doesn't want a .3ds file.
