Title: Texture editing
Post by: ronkleim on October 11, 2009, 12:44:36 am
Please help, searched the forum and read Adobe PDF.
How do do apply textures in the materials dialog?
I can upload an image , see the name there and select it
see it in the texture map, I hit ok but it never applies to the object.
Yes, I can change color and apply but textures don't seem to apply to the object.
I'm sure this something simple but after 4 hours of experimenting, my brain needs help :)

Textures go in the diffuse setting of the material. Any picture will do, but best to use a UV mapper to position the textures on the model properly.

Yeah, what I ended up doing was to put the .jpg texture image in all the settings.

Every slot has a different effect on the final material, as pincho said the diffuse slot is to apply the main color of the texture, so most of the time you will be using that slot.

Try placing textures in different slots and see the (rendered) results to figure out what each slot does!
