Title: Low poly (quake style) body tutorial?
Post by: inky84 on September 23, 2009, 05:30:13 am
I've been searching around various places for a while and I can't seem to find a tutorial for making rather low polygon models like in QUAKE/QUAKE 2.

If anyone could point one out or provide some tips themselves, that would be great.

Cheers,

Inky

You can find tutorials for other 3D modeling aplications that might help you. I've seen many Modding sites sporting tutorials and using 3ds Max of GMax for modelling. These tutorials could be easily converted to be used in Anim8or. Probably the biggest difference you will find is mirror modeling. which is where you can mirror your object in realtime and change things on one side that effect the other. I do not believe you can do this in Anim8or instead you have to finish your model then you can mirror it. Hope this helps

I think someone has a page on the resources tab (on the left) that has lo-poly modeling tuts. They are pretty good and they helped me a lot with my modeling. You can also make a high-poly model and use the merge point tool (by selecting close points on your model and pressing SHIFT L) and that will reduce your point count. Just make sure you don't set the parameters too high or your model will just look weird.
