hello to everyone. i just had an idea. i think all or some of the anim8tors on this websiteshould get together and then well try to make yoda from starwars. some of us could do the lighting and some could do the modeling. i can do the voice. if you can do the voice too, e-mail me a clip. thanks to every one, in advance, who replies 8) ;D ;) :) :D

I sense yet another epic "whatever" in the works.
-
and what do you mean by that!?
-
I really don't mean to put a damper on your enthusiasm, but others besides me will tell you that dozens of "community projects" have been suggested here over the past several years. Yet, I have a hard time remembering more than one that came to fruition. Good luck, though...
-
if u r so sure it will hit the fan, why dont u help?!
:-\
-
Now you're beginning to get the point. I have no interest in modeling a Yoda, and most people don't want to help and/or have other/better things to do. Just an observation...
-
Now now rudy!!....... As suggested most of these Projects just do not materialize, people get fed up after a while and move on to other things .
I suggest you go it alone with your little Yoda project , you will get more satisfaction that way, and not have to rely on the shortcomings of other anim8or users, who in general are a pretty apathetic and fickle lot!
just a view of the online guests will tell you that.

thanks. ill try. the only problem is that the head the body, and all the joints r one object. i dont know how to make certain joints move. help is appreciated. than u again :)

Help will always be given when asked, especially to those who have obviously read the manual and followed a couple of the tutorials available on this site, in the link at left. Most of the answers to your initial questions will be answered by that act alone, and it is important to realise that 3D modelling is no different to any other skilled, complex task, in that there is a lot to learn and you cannot expect to run before you walk. I STRONGLY recommend starting with a much simpler concept than Yoda, full organic figure modelling could be considered one of the most difficult aspects of 3D modelling, certainly the most difficult to do well. This forum will work best for you if you have specific questions to answer, especially if the answer cannot be found in the manual.

kreator and ENSONIQ5 are right, I may have jumped the gun a bit. Modeling (a decent) Yoda would not be a trivial task, and most of those who start a project such as this will drop out primarily because of personal disappointment with the results.
Especially since you're new to Anim8or, as ENSONIQ5 suggests, it's best that you pursue any project in which you have a personal interest on your own, first, and solicit suggestions from other forum members for how to improve your work.
Creating convincing and "real-world" 3D images is not really difficult, but it requires that you understand and master the fundamental principals of mesh structure and flow. And organic models, such as Yoda, are particularly challenging in this regard. Finally, talent plays a huge part in what comes from the mind of any artist.
Again as ENSONIQ suggests, start off slow, and don't be disappointed if you stumble a lot along the way. After all, if you're not failing, you're not trying. And there's plenty of talented and skilled Anim8ors here to help push you in the right direction.

Thanks. im not new with anim8tor thought, im new with the forum. and another problem im having is in the sequence mode, even if the arms and legs and body r seperate objects, they still wont move. im going to check the walking tutorial again. hopefully that works. if any one else has had this problem and fixed it, please tell me how. :)

Looks good. Funny how you work with separate sections, I would have started with a sphere, and a bunch of blocky objects to deform.
-
yea ive modeled a few different ways. usually if i dont have a reference pic i'll box sphere or cyl model cause it gives me sort of a guide. but i had a pretty good ref image for yoda. i did the side view 1st then extruded. then i worked on the nose then lips then the brow. then once i had a decent shape i started fixing my loops. ( i still dont have them right) im getting there though, its still a wip. and i think i just stole this guys topic thing so i made a topic on the wip section.

Just go for it! I can help with putting sound to the animation when it's all done if you need it.
-

That's quite disappointing. I just hope there's progress with those.
