Post by: GeniusAtWork on February 13, 2008, 07:03:46 pm
if i could get a tutorial on how to make different textures e.g transperent plastic it would be much appreciated. Also do you know of another render program that I could render my creations in because anim8tor cannot process checkers etc. ???

What do you mean anim8or cannot process checkers?
By simply searching on google here's what I came up with:
http://www.hollmen.dk/content/view/42/30/ (http://www.hollmen.dk/content/view/42/30/)
http://members.lycos.nl/jonim8or/uvtext_tut.html (http://members.lycos.nl/jonim8or/uvtext_tut.html)

Just be sure to try to help yourself first.
If you can't view textures that you put on, try going "view>preferences" and check everything you want to be able to view in the render and in the viewport.

the whole thing comes out yellow?  that's strange.  Could you give a screenshot?
As for different textures, go here (http://www.mp3d.info/Anim8ortutorials/page1.html) and download video #5.  It will teach you a good deal about materials.

For a screenshot, press the "PrtSC" (Print screen) button up at the top of your keyboard.  You can then go into your favorite image editing program, paste the image  in, edit it if you want, then save it and post.

Hmm....
AOI is an amazing rendering program.  It also models but I prefer modeling in anim8or.
Models in anim8or, textures, materials, rigging, animation and rendering in AOI :)
(btw AOI = art of illusion)
