It has been meticulously modeled after the real deal, and I believe it to be a crowd pelaser. Measuring in at 16,605 vertices, and 16,155 faces, I present you, my master piece, the Smith and Wesson Colt 1911.

beautifully done. great work!
-
nicely done. Good work. If you want to make it more realistic looking, put some details like grooves on the grip, markings, and metallic patina.
-
very nice, might do the same setting for my M1 Garand :P

Damn! Had too look twice. Bloody near looks like a photograph. Very Nice

ummmm... pardon me, but I do hope you have a permit to model that...!
Very nice, all around! form, texture and materials, etc...

I like it alot. nice work
-
model is pretty fantastic.
If you want to make it better I suggest improving textures/materials and Add a better light setup.
my 2cents :)

Yeah, I just finished the actual modeling, and needed to post it asap. I'll soon be completing the fine details. You're right, the grip needs grooves, and the slide nedds markings, both of which will be a quick fix. Thanks for all the positive feedback, I've been using anim8or for a while, but have been working mainly on improving before I returned to the forums. I should have it completed in a few days, when I have some time off.

Smith & Wesson made guns? I though they only made knives, well, show what I know.
Nice model, but I think it shouldn't have to be so high poly, 16K is pretty high for a gun of its detail, but again, nice model.

where can I find the amount of faces? ???
EDIT: found it, nvm ;)

Smith & Wesson is the largest handgun producer in the US, and they supply sidearms to law enforcement worldwide, as well as being very successful in the public sector. Oddly enough, they even produce cologne, wood pellet grills, stealth bikes, and handbags, although the majority is tools and other stuff for law enforcement.
Don't worry though, the only reason I know this is from loking at wikipedia. ;D
