Since I have vacation I've got all the time of the world to do some nice 3D artwork :D :P
Thought it would be a nice idea to start with an easy rifle so I can improve my skills, after that one Ill go on with some more weapons from WWII
Here you can see my start for the American rifle: The 'M1 Garand'
-
nice start!
can't wait to see the rest.
-
Some new progress...
-
and another update :P
-
Any comments? :P xD
-
Looking very well modelled at the moment! can't wait to see it completed, may I ask where you're getting your reference images? (assuming you aren't doing this from... memory :P)
-
great! keep it coming.
good attention to detail can't wait for the textured versions.

totally from my memory :P
no, using this image

And again some progress :)
-
and again
The aiming side took some time, cause it became melformed all the time, but as far as I can see it's oké now
-
Some sort of finished it, I might search for a better wood texture =/ not sure
and I will improve it, because some edges are a bit weird :P
And I have 1 question, about the texturing: the woodtexture looks OK on most places, except for the flat places on top of it, hoe can I improve that? (see second picture)
Ill make a nice render of it today or tomorrow ;)

Some nice 'street fews' :P 4th pic is a aquarel version x)
(first time Im really satified about something I made in Anim8or :o ;D)
-
very nice. the textures look great. are they from the reference picture or drawn. anyways i would say to unwrap them in lithurunwrapper to avoid that "stretching" effect on the top and bottom.
but great work!
-
Very nice, yes... Not looking at any original images to compare, but I do like it! A bit funny you doing this, because awhile back I had started in on a project tied in with WWII modeling... specifically certain things associated with Nazi Germany, for an unusual video game/movie idea.

Just googled 'woodtexture' :P
I'm think Im going to make a start to a thompson gun or a luger pistol... still doubting :P
-
Great model, I fully support your choice of subject, as I'm a bit of a gun nut, and I'd recommend the Luger, for more originality. The thompson is overdone in my opinion, and the Luger is a bit more of a challenge, which I think you're up to.
