Title: Anim8or on Linux Ubuntu?

Hello again! :D

I have a friend on another forum who is using Linux Ubuntu, and I told him about Anim8or. He wanted to try it, but he can't run it on his OS. Is there a way to run Anim8or on Linux/Ubuntu or whatever that thing is?

Lots of appreciation if someone knows how!

Your friend needs Wine http://www.winehq.org/ - latest the best ;)
I'm running Anim8tor on Linux quite smoothly. I only get sometimes random refreshing glitches, but it's not a big problem. Also I can use only single core for rendering. These might be only my problems, because I need to update my Linux system as well as wine to newest version. I hope then everything should be working fine :)

which graphic card do you have? My brother also wanted to use Anim8or in linux, but he has problems probably with graphics. He has MSI laptop with ATI Radeon graphics and dualboot Pclinuxos 2009-1/Opensuse 11.1. But he is not able to successfully run Anim8or although trying different wine and graphics driver versions. The best result was, that he can see the Anim8or window with controls but with black area inside (no grid, no objects, no axes) so is not possible to use it.

GF 7600 GT on drivers version 177.70 on Mandriva 2009 with Wine 1.1.10. Have you tried to change settings on graphics tab in Wine configuration panel?

Yesterday we looked in Wine settings again but found only Picture tab and field "Directct3D - allow pixel shading" - but checking or unchecking this does not have influence on Anim8or.

Here is more detailed info:

Wine 1.0.1
graphics ATI Radeon Xpress 1270 (in system set as Radeon X1200 series)
driver x11-driver-video-radeonhd, version 1.2.4. pclos2009
Anim8or  v095c

I'm afraid I cannot help more as I'm not very familiar with Linux. Maybe someone here who knows Linux/Wine better will help you. If updating drivers and/or Wine does not help you can ask someone on Wine forum or try to report bug.
