Hey, does anyone here know of a space shooter game engine or anything like that from the early or mid 1990s? I really need one for something I'm working on.
Also, I'd like if it supported a semi-popular format..
I won't tell what I'm doing with it until it is finished! (Which is getting the engine)
Thanks in advance for any suggestions. :)

Are you looking for 2D or 3D game environment? Would be nice if you had an example of the style of game you mean.
I did do a quick look just to see, and found this little thing... http://creators.xna.com/en-US/ and this had a little something about a game maker if you want to buy one...http://www.brighthub.com/video-games/pc/articles/9856.aspx
Dunno if it is at all what you want though.

I know I'm double posting, but it's been a while, and I really need to know of a game engine/maker. :(
I was just wondering if anyone had read my last post in here and knew of anything?
Thanks!

u might want to try darkbasic. im pretty sure thats c++.

if you really want to find good open source software try www.sourceforge.net and search for game engines
here's some that I found
http://sourceforge.net/search/?type_of_search=soft&words=game+engines
hope that helps ;)

Dark Basic will make the game that you want. However it isn't a simple click, and build engine, it is a programming language, but very easy to learn.

Why an old engine? If you want an old style, just make the models low poly. Getting an old engine gets you bad physics and bad system compatibility. Try panda3d and just make it look old!

Best of luck on your space age adventures!

Yeah, thanks, guys. :)
I'll check them all out.
I think I'm set on learning basic/DarkBasic. :)
