ok it's pretty basic but it took me a couple of hours, sorry about the screen size, it had to be 200 x 150 or it took forever to render
anyway check it out and tell me what you think
i only added in the cars today but that video is still being checked
whaddya think?
ps. can anyone tell me how to change the size of the camera? because it goes through the walls, or do i just have to resize the city?
-
It looks like a good beginning.
The camera going through walls is not the problem of the camera size; to fix it, click Settings>Environment>Advanced and set Z-near to 1.
How long did it take to render this?
Looking forward for more.

took about 3 minutes, now that i think about it, i might just be able to make it 400 - 300, i'll test that now, won't be able to show you the result for a while though because youtube has that checking phase, when it's uploaded i'll post here
thanks for the good comments

3 minutes... well, I think you should have set at least 400x300 resolution...
You have to be patient, once there are more models and details, it may take several hours/days to render the whole thing...
By the way, are you just testing your skills, or is this a beginning of some big project?
-
well i thought about just doing it to test some skills but if i took out the flying cars on my other video (you'll see) i could make the scene a bit longer and make it an intro
or i could just leave it how it is for now, i'm up to 60 frames on the render

YouTube wants 320x240 resolution. It's a bit pointless making it anything else because it'll get taken back to that anyway.
Having said that, I see the video window in YouTube is 480x360, so go figure.
Anyway, YouTube's doco says it should be 320x240.
Let's face it, I don't know what I'm talking about. :-D
-
ok, i think you may be right, it doesn't seem to want to upload the video, i'll re-render it smaller
-
ok, i've got the render, uploading it...now, i'll get back to you as soon as it's been checked
-
finaly!!! they took their time to check this didn't they
anyway, here's the URL, tell me what you think of the basicly finished version
-
looks better, I can see you've fixed the camera...
I especially like how the car disappears behind the corner :)
I don't know what exactly you are going for; if you want it to look more like a real city, the first you should do is to texture the buildings and then make all the details (streetlamps, traffic lights, some background...)
-
yeah, don't think i'll do that now though, mabye another time

Looks good. Now it looks like you're flying between the buildings, not throught them. ;-)
Was that inspired by the film A.I.? They did a couple of flythroughs like that.
-
would be nice to see the camera angled like if it's a plane turning rather than taking a sharp corner as it does. Good start though.

thanks for the good comments, i guess i might have been inspired by A.I, but a lot of my works are inspired by film shots, i think i might have been subconciously creating the type of shots they use in films, when it doesn't look too smooth, it seems almost sorta handmade, i dunno, good question
