Title: Crash report, skinning
Post by: hepolite on February 07, 2009, 05:05:02 pm
While I was skinning my model, I discovered that I had some bones misplaced, so I deleted them and add someone new at the same place. Then, when I was about to start skinning again, everything crashed.
Then I found out that you can't skin at all after you delete a bone.
You can skin after adding a bone, thought.
I was using the weight skinning option.

I'm using Vista, so that might be the problem. Anyone else who has experienced this?

I've had the same problem before. After you delete the bone, save the project. Let it crash, then reopen your project. Usually, everything is fine after that. I have had to use a bit of text editing to remove any mention of the deleted bones, but that's a bit of an advanced technique.

Alternately, after editing the skeleton, you can double-click on the object and change to bone influences and then change it back to weights, it won't crash but you will have to re-skin the object.

I've already skinned a lot so I prefer not to do that again. I found a temporarily solution. I reuse my bones and it works good enough.

I'll try to do what you said, Dreadkb.

#097-027 - Delete a Skinned Bone and Do More Skinning Crashes.

Thanks for the report.  I can reproduce it and am looking for a fix.  This isn't a Vista problem it's a Steve problem :)
