Well, for some reason when I was bored, I decided to create one of these in anim8or, I'll have a video on Deviantart soon, but for now you'll have to stick with just the still image.
My overall intention was to create a screensaver for myself, and in that sence I succeeded.
Whaddya Think?

Looking good, the movie is pretty low quality but the image is nice.
Btw it's newton not neuton ;)

Oh right, haha, didn't think it looked right, thanks.

I like the still but couldn't get the chance to see the animation,i guess some other time :) but nice work!

That's a nice model, I just have one criticism about the motion. It appears the balls slow down before striking their neighbours, and this is not correct from a physics point of view. In fact, the ball would be travelling at its fastest at the exact point of impact, transferring its energy through the series of balls and sending the other outer ball up and out. The best way to think of it is like there was only one ball, swinging like a pendulum. At the lowest point of the pendulum's arc it is travelling fastest, and in the Newton's Cradle model it is at that point that the ball stops dead, and the ball at the other end continues the arc. It's a relatively minor thing, and shouldn't be too hard to fix (remove any temporal smoothing from those keyframes), but I think it is important to get the physics right in an animation of a model originally constructed to demonstrate a physics concept. Great work, and and excellent idea for an animation btw.

I have a small crit about the frame of the newton's cradle. In any real newton's cradle, each ball is suspended on 2 wires, this way they resist moving along more than a single arc. If your model was real, at the moment of impact, all the balls in the middle would move every which way instead of in a straight line.

Yeah, That's the problem with trying to do it from memory... can't always rely on it :P
I may remodel it a little later, but at the moment i'm happy with it, and in the sense of realism and physical accuracy... I'm not bothered really, looks good as a screensaver at the moment.
Thanks for all the comments.
