Will be texturing & smoothing out the edges in the next few days.
Both fully animated in Anim8or

What do you mean, is the first image with the transparent ring rejected ??? I hope not, because it is very beautiful.

Not sure how important this is for your comp but the second image is a bit incomplete in that the big gear wheel which has cogs does not seem to connect to other gears while the three rings above seem to connect but have no cogs.
Or maybe I'm just hair splitting ;D

Good luck anyway !

Yeah the ring is great also. and i like the second one alot, although the second might need to be smoothed out a lil bit

I agree with Lynn and spriter12, that would be a shame to leave out that ring, which looks cool to me. That's a good project, looking forward for the final composition falloffalot.

Thanks guys.
But I have scrapped that idea as I am finding it impossible to anim8 a vine growing over and around the model to give the effect that it is ageing rapidly.
Here is my new entry, just need to try and sort out a gold shiny reflective material

You can create really nice ivy using this (http://graphics.uni-konstanz.de/~luft/ivy_generator/) free software.
With some morphs you might be able to make it grow.

Cool work so far falloffalot, and about making the growing vine, I believe it can be easily done as floyd suggested.

Keep on

This is really coming along great, falloffalot, nice work and excellent render!  I particularly like the filligree work in the dial face and hands, and the scale on the smaller dial looks very accurate.  One aspect of my job is to engrave on watches such as these, from TAG Heuer and Longines, so I have become a bit of a watch afficionado.  Great to see such fine attention to detail, such as the odd convention peculiar to timepieces where the numeral "4" is marked in Roman numerals as "IIII", rather than "IV".

I would like to see a bit more detail in the case itself, with perhaps a joint seam around the outer perimeter, and of course it needs a crown wheel.  The inside of the lid is often engraved with fine filligree work and sometimes an inscription, as is the back of the timepiece.

Aside from animation, this model has the potential to produce a really finely detailed still image. Very impressive mate!

Oh yes this is really becoming another amazing still, I happen to do that same work of engraving names and dates on watches and other things, and I agree with all of Ensoniq5 advices. Besides, I'm curious about the glare effect just like Spriter, well done Falloffalot.

Thanks guys.
Ensoniq good call, crown wheel added  ;)
Nuts! never added the bump for the engraving on the inside of the lid  :'( and I started the final render this morning. It's on frame 32 of 700 and it's been going for 5 hours  :o
Will see what the final render looks like before I add it  :-\

You want to know how I did the lens flare eh?
Easy....photoshop filter

I like the glass material aswell, it's very realistic! reacts to the light as you'd expect a thin piece of glass to.

EDIT: Render crashed at frame 337  >:(  :'(
Re-rendered at a reduced quality and frame number.  :-\

Nicely done.  I feel the elements went very well with the soothing voice.
The background and base too the clock itself was too simple and clashed too much with the clock for my liking, but the glass letter were wonderful.

Thank you, that link worked.

Nice work, only the soothing voice calling to relax is a bit of a contradiction to the speed at which time flies on your watch ;D

Great work!  My only crit is that the watch hands don't quite move correctly, the hour hand passing 5 or 6 hours for one revolution of the minute hand.  The glass-like revolving lettering is brilliant, I really like that effect.  Overall great work!
