Hi, long time ago i posted a wip (very long time). I was pretty busy with college so I didn't started a new project till a week ago.
As you might see it's a robot. That's all i have to say about it right now but i have some nice ideas.
The model is roughly based on other models i found on the web, which i used as a reference.
It's will be a still but maybe i will animate it, depends how it all works out. Enjoy

very cool robot...
congratulations!!
-
I like it... looks human, and jaunty... a bit dumb, and a bit mean :P
-
nice render

Thanks for the comments guys. Here is an update of what I made today and yesterday.
As you can see i added the hips and upperlegs. Still alot of work to do but i'm getting somewhere.
-
Nice, i want to see him realising he's a robot, and admiring his new limbs... seems like a curious character, with some humanity...

I'm probably not going to rigging him, so admiring his new limbs will be a though one. But this was indeed ment to become a very curious robot. A property that might cost him his live ^^

Eheheh Floyd, your creature did not came to life yet and you're already planning its end, what a mercyless creator ;)
Keep on the nice work, it's promising.

Here a small update on my robot. I added the legs and feet. It still needs hands and some details, but i will do that soon enough.
-
It looks really good kinda like something out of Pixar's Robots.
I was wondering though, how did you get the gray texture to come out like that when you where rendering, it dosen't look flat. Was that a texture you made or one made in anim8or texture tool?
-
You created a really cool robot. It would be funny to see him moving around :D

As a reference i looked alot to pixar's Robots and other robots. So yes there is some alikeness ;)
The material is just the default material with the specular turned down to 0. But it was render using the AmbientOccluder attribute (http://anim8or.com/download/preview/index.html). This gives it a bit the clay render look.

Thanks! Indeed it would be funny to make an animation short staring this robot and i have some cool ideas. The problem is that i don't have alot of time, so a minutes lenght short would take ages. The first step is making a still, maybe i will move on to animation after that.

such a smooth looking model the textures fit it perfectly. Really good render quality there as well!

He looks quite nice and is probably related to the ones in the advert on TV right now for sweets from a well-known brand.

Not sure which ad your talking about. Remember I'm from holland, we might have some other ads/brands.
But i have inspired my robot on alot of other (3d) robots, so you might see some comparison.

That looks great, really clean looking model and great style.
-
Here is an update of my robot. I added hands. Still needs alot of tweaking on the details: adding screw and bolts, that kind of stuff. Enjoy!
-
Looking much better floyd. Interesting how the style of the eyes is different to the rest of the bot... yet it still fits.

Ye, i used an method of making eyes which is used by studios like pixar. It aren't really robotic eyes or something, but they give life to the character.

:o Hey, how you can do this lightning?i't is coll?!

I'm using the AmbienOccluder attribute in scene mode: http://anim8or.com/download/preview/index.html

Here a new update. I added details and placed the robot in the final pose.
Tell me what you think.
-
floyd, he's looking great and ready for action ;D
I like that AmbientOccluder effect. How are the render times, about the same as regular settings or longer ?
-
MUUUUCCCCHHHH longer.
-
Not really true, if have found a way to render with the ambientoccluder about as fast as without. As you might noticed, i removed the ground floor and added fog. Somehow, without the ground floor the render doesn't takes as long.
This way the render takes about 5-10 min. Not that long.
-
That's not a bad render time, thanks guys.

I love how you've positioned him there, you've caught the motion and Emotion, reminds me of Tyson Ibele's character movement.

Now you mention it. It does look a bit like one of his animations using max (the dummy). thanks

Little update. I started on the rest of the scene. Nothing special yet just a stair which will be on the background.
As always a clay render ;)
-
good work. I've tried making robots before but never got around to it fully.

A new update on the rest of the scene:
