Title: New to Anim8or, need some help
Post by: Mephy on October 21, 2008, 10:18:50 pm
I've been tinkering with it for about 2 hours now and having some fun.

My experiments so far have been with the tutorial examples. Thing is, I haven't been able to get through any of them because of one big thing- I can't figure out how to use the drag-select tool! Am I being an idiot with it? I click next to the object I want to select, drag down and across it, and release. Nothing happens.

Am I doing it wrong?

I know, I know.
Stupid newbie.
 ;)

Nevermind, answered own question by looking back through old posts.

Aagh, no, I didn't.

It'll let me select when NOT in point-edit mode, but when I get in there, it refuses to let me.

is the object grouped. If you grouped the object even if itss not grouped to anything, it won't move in point edit mode. just select the object in object mode then go to build ungroup and see if that works.

it might also be worth noting that the different modes have independent tool selection - ie. if you are in object-edit mode and pick the drag-select tool, then go into point-edit mode, you'll see that the point-edit drag-select tool isn't picked.  you have to pick drag-select after going into point-edit mode, not before.

Greetngs mephy

welcome to the world as we know it ;)

Maybe in answer to your problems, are you working with a cube or sphere or something like that?

The premade 3d shapes in anim8or are called primitives.

If you go to point edit mode there won't be any points for you to select - cause they have no points yet.

Whioe in object mode select the primitif then you need to use build>convert to mesh.

Then go to point edit mode and you should see some points you can select.

Good luck you seem to have good brains.
