sorry if this is a question asked 10000 times, but does anim8or support normal maps?
like:
couldn't seem to find it anywhere, and if not... why not?
-
not sure, use it as a bump map to find out
-
that wouldn't work.. its not the same thing.
-
Normal Maps?
There are so many different terms to get used to, care to clue me in on this one?
-
Read this.It should help.

No, Anim8or doesn't support user provided normal maps. It uses bump maps and then builds it's own internal normal maps for rendering.
-
...Will it? Lol...
It would be pretty cool....
-
I do agree with Xalener that it would be a nice addition. It's already nice to use Anim8or for some game models because of its simplicity. And if I could use it in combination with Zbrush or mudbox to create new generational game characters or objects normal maps would definitely come in handy. It doesn't seem like it would be too much work either since the system is already built in, though I can't be sure of that of course ;)

Yeah.
Normal maps would save me a lot of work. And comp power...
-
If I put this in the bumpmap section my model goes all bumpy
Heres an example on a sphere ;D

This is the result of my playing around with normal map and grayscale on a sphere.
The left one with grayscale bump map.
The right one with a combination of normal map and grayscale. The depth looks more pronounced due to shades.
-
Yeah, but.
I don't think It'd work that way. Normal maps are supposed to REPLACE greyscale bumps.
