Title: Modeling?
Post by: thomasmendozajr on October 09, 2008, 05:33:35 pm
I was wondering if there are going to be any new changes to the modeling section I know that anim8ors main focus has been in the rendering section and I was wondering If anim8or is going to have future updates to its modeling and animation Sections before the version 1.00 come out?

Yes I've added a bit to the modeling tools also.  I need to finish debugging and testing them before they're available.  Anything specific that you would like?

Some kind of retopology tool would be amazing.  Basically just being able to go into a mode where when we used the add-edge tool it would place the points on the face of the mesh.

another thing that would be really usefull is the ability to hide edge points and lines in the point edit mode. sometimes when ur doing the back or side of something it gets confusing and theres always alot going on.

How about a function to delete objects from the list? At the moment you can delete the geometry but not the slot on the list. This could help with large, complex models with many parts.

Oh - oh - and - !

Could we have a hotkey for the Select by Materials function? It's very useful but needs a shortcut.

Once again, thank you for Anim8or, Steve.

I do agree, it would be nice to be able to delete objects and scenes and sequences and such.  When I accidentally create an extra object, or don't need one anymore its irritating not being able to get rid of it.

Dude!  These have been in Anim8or since v0.1!  Use Edit->DeleteObject, or Edit->DeleteScene and Edit->DeleteElements in the Scene Editor!

We (animanon members)are quite happy with the modelling tools at the moment, however the Animation side still needs to be concentrated on .....

Still would like the ability to copy objects in scene mode rather than having to keep importing them through BUILD -Add object :

Also ability in BUILD menu To actually have the "Attach to path" work...

animatble textures would be nice as well, together with enhanced lights much along the lines of carrara`s

can you clarify with me what the time-slider does exactly?

You can "scrub" your animation by scrolling forwards and backwards through an entire scene with the Time Slider.  (It's that new thing just above the Time Track.)  The min and max frames for the active region are set by the lower slider and the upper one does the sliding.  I made it so that the current frame limits how far the slimits will go so you can quickly set them to the current frame, etc.  (I'm adding a mode when you hold the Ctrl key down to override this and move the current frame instead because that's also useful.)

Haha you learn something new everyday is right!
I feel very silly for not remembering this one.  Especially since it's so important.  I guess I expected it to be under the "Object" section.
Haha wow I feel dumb ;)

Slides time....lol.

I'm sure you already know about the sculpting/normal map requests, but that's way far off....

What about glowing materials? Like, they just aren't bright, but they actually have "volumetric coloring".......and they're bright.

I think all the ideas you guys came up with are great, I used anim8or for engineering Purposes and had to be quite professional with the detail. I was thinking of a measure tool in object mode  to give an good idea how profession the object is towards Realism.  I like the animation tools that came out It was very helpful in my last project steve,

Steve
I requested a while ago that when you assing a color to a mesh when you see it in wire frame it will adopt that color, is there any chance that will be in the next release?

Might want to revise aslight typo there, dejean. lol.

Another render feature I'd like is... Motionblur...

Of course...

OH and the ability to have a folder hierarchy in the texture select menu.
