How do i change the ground to a solid color and the walls a solid color?

the ground grid can't change colour.  you either have the default checkerboard, or you turn it off (settings > environment > ground grid), and build your own floor model in object mode.

and there aren't any walls.  the blank grey space you see beyond the edge of the ground grid isn't an object at all, it's just the background colour, which is shown when there isn't anything else there.  You can change the background colour from the same Environment Settings panel which you use to turn the ground grid on/off.

hope that helps ;)

Adding to thecolclough's comments, if you want a floor, you need to create it as an object.  Same for the walls.  Then, you can color and/or texture them any way you want...

and adding to Rudy and -c's comments.
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/w.watson3/main/parameteric.html has some great perimetric shape plugins for anim8or. The "plane" shape could be used for floors and walls very easily. That's what I generally use. There is also a "4walls" plugin on the same page. I have not used 4walls before so I can not comment.

Using the plane makes your render faster because one plane is only 4 points, 4 faces and 1 plane.
Hope this helps
