Title: A personal question to Steve xD

Steve, when you started programming?
Which language you learned?

I'm in a technical school, and my course is software development, and I learning Java since the begin of the year.
Until next year our programs are all in the console, next year we'll learn to make GUI's
I wish be a Game Programer (characters moddeling and the program itself) and study Artificial Inteligence...

Computer graphics meant printing Mona Lisa or Snoopy using a bunch of stars on a line printer. Wow, that was cool! I spent every spare moment I had in the computer lab drinking Dr. Pepper and eating cheese crackers out of the vending machines.

Same for me! The batch of punch cards was then processed on a "mainframe" with 256 (later 512) KB RAM. Heroic times! :)

For me,it was Fortran,Cobol and assembler on a 370 IBM
main frame.

Ho and I remember a PDP11. A red box with 8 switches on the front
panel.You had to load a few instructions manually to boot.

Tough to hide our age talking about that.

I hope you're not complaining! In 1976 I used to wait two days to find out that my program didn't compile due to some 5 punch cards with syntax errors...
Guilherme Amorim, I'm sure you'll have a hard time to explain your grand sons that computers used to have silicon chips, keybord, mouse and no direct connection to the brain! :)

some of us won't have to explain, we'll just be able to show off the archaic-but-still-in-use machine itself... i for one know my brain is in such a bad state already, i can't afford to risk having it directly connected to a computer, especially one running Windows! :P ;D
