In what way does it not respond to light correctly? If you mean you can't see the specular highlights like with the rest of the body, that's because you've got two lights that are above it and the top of the head is completely flat. If you want to give it a little spec from that angle, then bevel the top of the head slightly so that the edge isn't so sharp.

The hands look a bit high poly and could do with some better uvmapping (or just use a solid color). You should try using the subdivision object feature in anim8or instead of subdividing the faces, next time (check the manual if you don't know what I mean).

It looks good though, good luck with animating it :)

the way it doesnt respond to light i mean is for some reason it doesnt show the specular anywhere but i did try beveling the top face and that did seem to add for light   thank u =]

and i always use the convert to subdivision but for some reason i end up subdividing the faces anyway,  its a habit i need to break. but as for animating it is my first attempt at character animation and i have had some problems with the bone movements and cooperation.

but thank cowtail for ur help,  and good luck on ur burlap man    it is looking great,  i always like seeing models from u =]

That's an awesome GIR you've got there, can't wait to see it animated.

Good Job.  (i'd use a thumbs up emoticon, but i can't find one :P)
