Title: Camera path problem
Post by: falloffalot on September 18, 2008, 12:29:11 pm
I am trying to get the camera to follow the track, but when I get to the point with the arrow the camera path bends upwards. How do I stop this from happening?

Thanks

check the time spacing of your keyframes, and if that doesn't get you anywhere, it might be worth trying out the old delete-the-keyframe-and-make-it-again-from-scratch trick, which has been known to solve some of my problems in the past with funny-shaped paths.

in the attached drawing, i drew the blue lines on just to analyse the geometry of the track.  it might be an idea to scrap the point circled in red, and add the orange one instead.  i'm not sure how to explain it in words, but if you look at the geometry in my diagram, it should hopefully make sense.  slap me if it doesn't :P

You could also use the graph editor. Click on each of the points in turn and drag the white handle bars that show on a point till the bump in the curve disappears.

Or, easiest of all, if you want to directly manipulate the path, with the path selected select the "spline" tool in scene mode (resembles a wavy line), then select the point you want to manipulate (in this case, the point thecolclough said you should delete), green handles should than appear that you can drag around to get your desired effect.  You can also drag around the point with the spline tool by just clicking and dragging.
