Title: Newbie problem
Post by: vobla on January 16, 2008, 12:33:25 pm
Hi,

I have been playing around with this nice app and experienced some problems.
I have two objects. They've been converted to meshes. I'm not sure what I did, but now I cant move a selected vetex (if I do it by double click & enter values, it works fine, not with mouse). And yes I'm in wireframe view. Strange that it happens just with one of the ojb.

Can anyone pzl help  :(

EDIT:

Btw. Seems that I am unable to select edges and faces of that obj (with 'select', 'drag select' works fine). :(

EDIT:

One more thing. I'm not able to fill holes on that obj. Selected edges colors are green and red.. :(

ONE MORE EDIT:

Ok. I was playing with new obj and I think this behaviour occured when I grouped obj with itself. Anyway, ungroup doesn't solve the ploblem. :(

Hmm.. after few hours I solved my problem. I just clicked 'ungroup'. I did that before, but it didn't work anyway..
I was trying to identify issue while playing around with group/ungroup, but it seems that its ok.. Am I stupid ;)

Actually you can use this effect in a helpful way.  If you have a lot of objects on the screen and are trying to select a particular point, while avoiding points behind it, grouping the objects you don't want to edit, either together or to themselves, is an excellent way to lock them out of the editing process.

i've had this same problem before but i've figured it out, if your trying to fill a hole remember to select all the 'lines', sometimes 2 points are so close together their only seems to be one so either move them apart or merge them together, you also might have a few problems if your running Vista cause of the different graphics drivers some things might not show up or incorrectly.
Also as ENSONIQ5 said if theres alot of meshes you might try to select one point but will end up selecting another but cant see it because it's at the back

Thanks, but I think that was not the case.. ;)
That was something with ungroup. Yesterday I had this issue again, I just pressed the ungroup several times and it was fine.. Unfortunately Icouldnt cath the cause..

BTW. I hate vista. Actually in my language 'vista' is very close to a word chicken, so we call it like that :D

It seems, though I have not thoroughly checked this, that if you select an object, and group it with itself three times, for example, you must ungroup it three times before it is actually ungrouped.  In other words, it seems the heirarchy structure of grouped objects remains true even if an object is grouped only with itself.  My best guess is that somehow you have grouped an object more than once.
