Title: Mirroring unfilled edges
Post by: Sinani201 on August 16, 2008, 09:36:50 pm
I'm trying to make a symmetrical object with a reference image. The only problem is, since it is symmetrical, I need to mirror one side, and then it will be finished.
The only problem is, the edges are unfilled, therefore making it impossible to use the mirror function on the Build menu!
Is there an alternative to this or any other way to do it? Maybe a plugin in Terranim8or? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think the only way will be to add a face, mirror it and then delete the 2 faces...

It shouldn't matter if the edges are unfilled or not.  Make sure object is a solid mesh and not a subdivided object.  Double click on the object, if the Subdivision Editor window pops up then it is a subdivision and you need to make sure the Working Divisions is set to 0 (down at the bottom), click OK, then go to the Build menu and click Convert to Mesh.  Then try to Mirror.

When I double-click it, it says that the object is a mesh. But when I try to mirror it, it says, "You must select a sing mesh to mirror"

You might have accidently grouped the object, click on the object and Build->Ungroup (u).
Alternatley, you might be selecting 2 meshes at the same time, usually if you Copr and Paste without moving the pasted object.

Thank you! Ungrouping it worked.
