Title: Import types?
Post by: rayj00 on August 12, 2008, 12:29:59 pm

I'm reading through the manual and there is no mention of Import/Export file types?

I am thinking that I can lay out the animation in anim8or and then use Maya to render?

What are the export file types?

anim8or supports the export of static objects to 3D Studio (.3ds), Wavefront (.obj), Vertex (.vtx) and C source code (.c), but i don't think it can export animation.  if i'm wrong, one of the forum's resident experts will probably correct me ;D

Let me be that resident expert =D. You can also inport lightwave (.lwo) files. But animations are not possible to import or export.

Am I reading this correctly? You can't export an animation done in Anim8or?

yes, you're reading correctly.  of course you can render to video, but you can't export anim8or-generated animations to the file formats of other animation programs.

at least, not yet.  once ASL has been fully implemented, someone might start writing scripts to export animation, but you can't export at the moment.

Okay. So once I render to video, that file can be exported and used in say Final Cut Pro?
