Hi this is my first time here and have been using Anim8or to render paint schemes for my Nascar game like this one
(http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm208/M0R0NI/20CowboysCar.jpg)
The problem it does not look very good. My question is this, Is Anim8or capable of renders like this:
and if so how do I go about doing it? Where do I start? Is there anyone of you experts willing to help me do this?
Thanks!

Certainly it is. Your top image looks more like a screen shot than a Scanline or ART render. It lacks shadows, shading, and looks to be an orthographic view, rather than perspective. Make sure you have the Camera selected when you perform the render, not Ortho view, and to achieve an effect similar to your bottom image you will need to add lights, defined as casting soft shadows.

Ok I will see if I can figure out how to do that. The next question is how do I build the car so its not just a shell?
-
Well I guess I am totally lost I cant seem to figure out how to make it look any different.

That's a shadow tutorial by me. This is in "Mode>Scene".
If you haven't, you should read the manual.
From there I'd follow some tutorials so you can learn to model yourself and make so it's not just a shell.

Ok thanks for the direction hihosilver. (I did try to read the manual and was lost very quickly so I guess I just need to read it over and over again) This is my first time using any kind of 3d programs so please forgive me if I ask what seems to be a dumb or simple question. I really want to learn how to do this.

don't worry - we were all beginners once ;D

Man I am trying to follow the tutorial on building a sword and I can not find out how to make a cylinder. It say to create a cylinder the length of the main hilt dragging from the bottom to the top but I cant seem to do that. What am I doing wrong?
-
There's an add Cylinder primitive button on the 'toolbar' (on the left side, found in object mode).
It's under add Sphere primitive, once you've created the primitive and tweaked it you can create it into a mesh by: Build->Convert to Mesh
You should find more help in the manual or by reading the basic tutorials.

Thanks Tanzim.
I did it I created the sword! Now I just have to figure out how to create the rest of the car and again I am back to square one. Where do I start? I have the skin (or outer shell) but how do I create the rest?
-
hihosilver I tried to use your rendering tutitorial but the link didnt work. Do you still have that available?
-
Oh whoops, I apologize, that was the wrong link.
I wasn't planning on letting that tutorial out for a little bit, but I'm glad it helped you ;)
Here's the link to the rendering tutorial: http://hihosilver.cg-nation.com/Tutorials/rendering-tutorial/rendering_tut_final.html (http://hihosilver.cg-nation.com/Tutorials/rendering-tutorial/rendering_tut_final.html)

Thanks for your help! Here is a picture with a much better render. Man this is fun! Now I need to work on creating the rest of the car. ;)

Wheels, chairs, engine... Shouldn't be too hard.
You might want to ask a Admin to have this thread moved to the WIPS/Finished Works Section where you can show everyone the end model.
-
I have tried everyting and cant seem to come up with anything that works. I was able to do the following in 3dmax but I just cant get anything close in Anim8or. So frustrated!

Are you trying to get that type of render or that type of model?
For render try the following tutorials:
http://anim8or.com/tutorials/from_users/lighting_tutorial/Lighting.htm
http://anim8or.com/tutorials/from_users/interior_lighting/interior_lighting1.html
What I'd suggest is that in scene mode you add a giant sphere and the car model at it's base (on the inside), then add a infinite light with soft shadows above the car model and make sure the car model is casting and receiving shadows.

that type of model.
