Looking for someone to build me a anim8or figure
« on: June 04, 2008, 06:27:45 am »

Hello,

I am looking for someone who can build me a figure of a red fox, including needed textures and the bone structure,
so that I can later move the foxes body in different positions for rendering. I have attached a graphic of the red
fox - the figure should look similar to the fox on the image if possible - so a bit comic style - nothing realistic.

I have basic knowledge of anim8or and can do most of the things but I do not have the skills right now to
be able model such a figure.

I would ask everybody who is interested in this job to give me a quote in USD or EUR and some references to
figures done earlier as well as an approximation of the time needed. All rights for the final figure should be transferred to me.
I would do payment by Paypal.

Please send me a private message.

Greetings,
F

as there was a feedback to my post - yes I am looking for someone to build the figure (bone, skeleton) as well as the object (mesh) plus the textures and I would need exclusive rights to use the final figure/object.

heh...... funny to see how all newbies seem to think we are all eager waiting to make some full-rigged 3d model for them.... for free :P

the community is meant to improve yourself with anim8or, not to let yourself be served by others. have you *tried* making the fox? have you followed any tutorials? are you willing to spend time to learn?

uhm... no. even IF someone would make the model, i do not think you'd get exclusive rights.

He's offering payment.  I'm sure he could get exclusive rights if someone made it.  Companies all over the place do already.

Hi,

well hihosilver is right - I explicitly said that I want to pay. If the anim8or community is not about job offers then
I appologize.

I had an offer from someone doing the fox in 3D Studio Max before, but after looking at all different programmes
(like Blender, Maya, 3D Studio Max) I found anim8or to be very intuitive and most likely for me to make changes
and to do the rendering I want. And yes, I did several tutorials and examples with anim8or for evaluation, but I know that
with my current skills I will not be able to do something that is looking good enough, especially when it comes to texturing, etc.
It would take me several attempts and weeks and I currently do not have enough time for it.

It is quite normal here in Germany to get offers from Freelancers for doing artwork, etc - as the model should be used
in a project that could become commercial one day it would be nice if the model itself is not publicly available (at least when
I had paid for it). So again - if this community or this forum is not the right place for such inquiries, then I appologize.

Regards,
F!

I would do it, but i haven't been able to get anim8or to work in Ubuntu yet.

I have found out why i doesn't work, i need a new graphics card that is compatible with linux. I am getting it soon, and then i can do it for you.

startrekfan001: maybe you should read the whole post before you slander others work.

If I were to make you something, I would never charge you for my work. why would I? what's gonna happen to me that would need money while making it, I ask?

anyhow, I don't have the skills in anim8or right now, but if I suddenly get good at it, I will inform you if you still need it done. :)

Some people don't, others do.
Many (professionals) make a living doing CG (think Dreamworks or Pixar), even freelance artists.
For others having a good reputation is enough.

yah. I thought about dreamworks and pixar and other people but, I just thought, because it's just one model, I would never charge.

ftcb:  This is the proper place, though you may get luck at www.CG-nation.com as well (which is currently anim8or.org, but they both lead to the same place.)  Also, do you have any more references of the fox than just the top view?

People, this is a freelance opportunity.  He's offering to pay for a model, people do it all the time in the industry.  Artists have to make a living.  I understand some of you are still living off parents and whatnot, but many artists live on their own of course and have to support themselves.  This is where freelance work comes in.  People pay for models or animations or things like that from them.  They get paid and can support themselves.
If anyone is interested I would step up now if I were you.

Like hiho said, this is an opportunity that doesn't just jump into your lap.  I've made over $9500 doing free-lance animations on the side over the past four years, using just Anim8or!  Not enough to live off of, but it's a nice supplement to my salaried job.

Of course, you'll only get paid if you're up to the task of providing the sort of results your client expects.

Well your right about me living with my parents (I am still in high school). I am not ready for making models for others yet for cash but when I am ready where do I go? Is there a website or something that I can go to so I can make models for others and make money. Rudy what did you do?

Because of Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA) I signed for all but one client, I can't say who they were or show any examples.  However, the highest-paying gig I had was animating an assembly for a defense company.  There's another one you can see at www.windrocker.com.  I did that one using LightWave.

RnDr FOX, just because you're still living your parents doesn't necessarily mean you aren't ready for paid jobs.  I am in high school as well, but I still jump in at these opportunities.  A step in the door earlier is always good.
