Specular-mapped Reflections
« on: May 08, 2008, 09:14:04 pm »

I have noticed that reflections are not affected by specular maps, this is a problem because it prevents the strength or color of a reflection from varying across the surface of an object.

Let me describe an example:  Perhaps you have an object that is only shiny on certain parts, and you use a specular map for it, the math for the reflections does not care about the specular map, and the reflections appear on the entire object, not just the shiny areas.

Glossy reflectors will support reflection maps in the next update for v0.97 (which is nearing release...)

... the next update for v0.97 (which is nearing release...)

*gets excited*

will this be a 'proper' / stable release, or an upgraded preview?  i'm still using 0.95c, since i prefer to work with the stable versions, but i'd love to see .97 'finished' (i know it's never really finished, there's always more to do, but you know what i mean ;D )...
