Does anyone know what the material and attribute settings for some water would be? ???

There are no standard material settings for water. I depends on what kind of water you want. Do you want clear tap water, dirty water from a creek, or the water of the sea. I suggest playing around with the setting of the material. Try changing the: transperancy, specular, reflection, bumpmaps. By some simple trail and error you will find out the best looking water for your scene.
