future feature request
« on: April 27, 2008, 09:48:57 pm »

i was searching for powerful (and somewhat expensive) 3d modeling software and came across this http://caligari.com/products/trueSpace/ts75/Brochure/characters.asp?Cate=Bcharacters...and i was wondering how many people would love this feature for a future release:other skelatal movement besides bone selected.(watch first vid tut on the link)
and simply click areas to continue bone building(sorry this is hard to explain but it is all in the first video).just wanted to bring this up as a possibility for a slightly distant future,e.g. v.1.50. sign the petition of requesting these features for a future update by typing your name at the bottom of the screen if you wish..possibly in a different color due to thecolclough's signiture thing...

For your first request, I assume you're talking about IK or "Inverse Kinematics".  As of now, Anim8or has Forward Kinematics, or FK.  Forward kinematics is where you select a bone then rotate it as you desire. Ik is where you can grab something like a wrist bone, then move the wrist, and the program bends the elbow for you.  Steve has worked on an IK system before, that's why you'll see an IK button in sequence mode.  This button is grayed out though because he never finished.  I can only assume that he still has IK near the top of his priorities, and I completely agree with you in your desire for this feature, as animation would then be thousands times simpler.
For adding bones, I can agree with you there as well, though it could just be nice if there were something as simple as being able to hold "shift" and have the new bone tool still selected.  Rotation would be nice as well though.  As for now, perhaps it's best to just use the shortcut "shift + n" to use the new bone tool.

..possibly in a different color due to thecolclough's signiture thing...

huh?  you mean the "- colclough" one?  i don't quite get why my use of that means other people should type in different colours...  oh well :P

back on topic... yes, i agree that IK would be great.  so i'll sign up to the petition.  in a different colour, as requested.

because colors are cool ;D .thanks people i learned something today...(ik=what i said above a few spaces) but i also like how simple setting bone limits is.i think i recall it was the 2nd or 3rd vid.but that really isn't any great inquisition considering the fact there is only 4 vids.

i sign my own petition muahahahaha!
