Thanks! That's really going to help me! You don't know. If you don't know, don't post please. Your only posting to get your postition up. Please try not to do that in the future as it does no help me or other people out there. Keep that in mind, will you?

I am led to believe, it was started up by general anim8or users, after a flame war on this board,

I thought that Kreator was the creator of anim8or.org (because he told all us lot on anim8or.com forum, when the competitions were taking place). anyway I have two questions: What is this flame war?
And who is the administrator of the forum.

ok, my knowledge of the history of anim8or.org

Raxx was the person who started up the site after it dissapeared for a while.
now i beleive TheProducer is in charge, he is doing some major updates around the end of this month (check the .org forum).
rounder may have been the original creator, correct me if i am wrong.

What is this flame war?

flame war? I dont know what you are talkin bout.

as i understand the term, it means an argument on a web forum which becomes heated (hence 'flame') to the point of all-out nastiness, probably involving various members slandering and hating each other and publicly swapping vicious comments which deride each other's personalities and IQs.

in other words, it's a forum getting turned into hell by users who lose their respect for each other :(

i've never had the misfortune to see one happen - let's make sure it doesn't happen here again!!!

Anim8or.org came about as a result of Steve disallowing conversations in the WIPs board in the old forum, a few years ago. A user could only create a new topic, and other users were not allowed to provide any feedback. Hence "we" made a new community site where users could give that desired feedback. (It also allowed us to help handle the "load", so to speak)

The original founder is Rounder. Then I took it up after a few problems with the site occurred, and now it's being handed over to TheProducer. There was no such flame war, nor were there any other real administrators/founders.

... There was no such flame war ...

well, that's good to know.  the idea of anim8or users flamewarring each other was quite disturbing :P

just wondering, though, why was feedback on WIPs disallowed?  i always thought that constructive criticism was the whole point of the WIP board?

As far as I know, it was because the 'constructive critisism' wasn't constructive any more... I think the moderators were not able to keep the discussions polite and civilized... and... it has gone wrong...

Let's hope it won't happen again...

Nope, that's not the reason.  Steve got fed up with all the unconstructive posts.  Posts such as "I like it," Better than I could do," or "Keep going" while positive, are not constructive.  Saying WHY you like it, or HOW it is better, or WHAT makes you interested in seeing development continue are more constructive in nature.

Steve mentioned this on numerous occasions, and finally decided enough was enough.
