Suggestion Requested - Chrome Metal
« on: November 19, 2023, 08:40:00 am »

I need to make something out of shiny chrome metal. I would love to hear anybody's suggestion as to the materials editor settings to do that. Here is what I have at present:
Ambient = 0.300
Diffuse = 0.900
Specular = 0.900
Emissive = 0.000
Rough = 6
Trans = 1
Brilliance = 2

Ambient/Diffuse RGB = 217, 217, 217
Specular RGB =  228, 228, 228

Any suggestions for tweaks will be appreciated - AND TRIED!

Thank you in advance.

Chrome is highly reflective, so I would reccomend trying out the ART raytracer. https://www.anim8or.com/learn/manual/11_ART_ray_tracer.html#class_glossyreflector

If you need to stick to the scanline renderer I'd use environment maps: https://www.anim8or.com/learn/manual/9_materials.html#environment_maps
