Models Too Big - Increase Set Viewing Size?
« on: April 08, 2008, 01:55:48 am »

I have a problem.

My set is huge ... too big perhaps :P

the further i go with the camera, models start to disappear from view although they're still there ...

I was wondering if therre was a way of making the working environment much bigger ... so more models can be viewed etc

In scene mode, go, "View>Z-Limits" and set the "Z-far" value to a higher value. ;)

Reducing Z-near is also useful for sneaking cameras into tight places without slicing parts of them off, handy for interiors and walk-thru's.

You could always just scale down your models. There is a scale tool in scene mode which let you scale down the objects there to the right size. As a last resort, this could be an option.

Yeah maybe ...

I remember there was a button i accidentally pressed that made everythinbg in the set look smaller!!! i cant find that button ! argh! lol

it would be so useful at the moment, because to render images, i ahve to keep dragging the camera around this huge set

:(

dressedforsuccess, you might be referring to the 'f' ('frame all') hotkey?  at any time, you can press f on the keyboard, and the viewport will be scaled to fit everything inside the window.  capital F will just frame the selection, if you have selected one or more elements.  however, if you do this in camera view, then it'll reset whenever you move to a different frame, so it'd be no good if you wanted to render a video.

go "view>reset" or "view>reset all" (the last one will reset all the views to their standard positions.)
