Kickstarter for Steve and Anim8or
« on: September 14, 2016, 05:21:47 pm »

I am interested in the idea of a Kickstarter campaign for Anim8or. I did a search and noted this has been mentioned before on the forum but not in depth and not recently.

I would imagine there are quite a few Anim8or hard core users like myself who would love to see a substantial upgrade and would be willing to put in a little money to a Kickstarter campaign. I started learning 3D via Anim8tor many years ago and have grown to appreciate how utterly simple yet powerful it is, and of course, unsurpassed when it comes to ease of use and the low learning curve involved. I envision a 1.0 version of Anim8tor that has a few more precious, key features that could exponentially improve its abilities.

I'm certain Steve G. has his own style and way of development and this is humble thinking out loud, however I would imagine it could not be a bad thing if a campaign did result in a moderate raising of funds. Perhaps funds could be used to hire coders to work on critical areas and other tasks that require outside assistance.

Thoughts... suggestions from the forum?

ELECTROHERMIT: Thanks for the support! But, honestly, I don't need anything. I'm retired and so I finally have enough free time to do some serious work on Anim8or. If anyone gave me any $$ I'd just have to spend it and that would take time away from working on Anim8or :)

Thank you Steve, I've been following the history of Anim8tor for several years now and thought that might be the situation, having read your forum posts from time to time over the years. I wanted to throw it out there, just in case this needed to be brought up by dedicated users.

I'm very, very excited to hear you are going to continue work on Anim8or, this is music to my ears and I'm so energized by the prospect, I'm having trouble typing! I would like to participate with bug reports, suggestions, and whatever else is possible. I'm in and out of the forum here, but now that we have this fantastic new build and the unbelievably good news that you are going to continue, I will dig around in the forum to see how I can participate in debugging and suggestions. Amazing news, it truly is...

I have also proposed something like that to Steve before, even a donate button. I appreciate his effort to improve anim8or and I feel he deserves donations for all the time he spends making an8 better. But he refused. I'll gladly donate to him and an8. :D Respect to Steve :D

Being retired too, I understand Steve's feelings. I have projects that I love to share with friends and apply all my efforts without monetary gain. I'm so happy that we can all participate in this great program with him.

Thanks, Steve, for sharing with us, and letting us play too.

Yeah, Steve loves to work and improve anim8or, and when you love what you're doing, you're doing it right. I won't hesitate and I'll be the first to donate if he'll have a donation page. For years and years, I've been using anim8or for personal and professional work. So, yeah! I'm very grateful to Steve!

You might not need anything, but we do. Kidding. Well, maybe half kidding. As great of a job as you do, you can only do so much on your own so fast. Just imagine how much more powerful of a platform anim8or could be with more programmers on board.

the easy answer is to go elsewhere, but we like the ease of use of anim8or and would like to see it jump forward a few generations.

Don't get me wrong though, the IK thing once polished up will be great, though I'm still itching for better rigging and rendering capabilities and I have a feeling it will take a long time to figure that out on your own.

Kyle: I don't really know about that... Steve being the only programmer, that kinda makes Anim8or Steve's signature. And he's doing an amazing job...
But I still hope he'll have that donation page. I'm the first one to donate! Steve ROCKS :D
