Frustrated with Textures
« on: February 15, 2016, 01:52:45 am »

Hi, I have this model of a Breen fighter from Star Trek. I am having problems with getting the textures to appear properly. I want it to look like the picture I have included below. I can only get solid colors without the pattern to appear on the mesh. I have been trying for weeks now with no success. Can someone here point me in the right direction? I have been playing with it in Anim8or and Blender and only meet with frustration. Is something wrong with the textures, the model or perhaps there is a setting in Anim8or that I need to tweak to a certain value. Thank you to everyone here for their patience, understanding and expertise.

you need to upload the original 3ds file and not the one you`ve butchered as it has lost its UV co-ordinates for the original textures.

Further to my previous post, I have managedto use the supplied textures though I dont really know what is what so it has been a bit haphazard,.

Before you start altering anything try to use the original textures that are supplied with the model. I noticed that you have tried every combination of specular, diffuse, difference, bump and ambient without much success ... look at the three textures weapons, hull side , and hull to see where I put them. When you need to apply textures to the model you will need to un-group the model before you start.

Try to get .obj files if you intend to keep downloading these sort of files as they are far better than .3ds, they also have the advantage of a .mtl file which lists the textures used.

Revised breen spaceship attached.
