Chrome with only one Enviro map
« on: December 27, 2015, 05:44:38 pm »

I would like to do a chrome football helmet with the reflection of the teams football field. I want to use only one envior map, not the six sided cube. The learning pages states: "You can also use a single image as an environment map. In this form the image is used as a latitude-longitude map of the environment" I would like to do this on a sphere render it and then transfer it to my other program, Can anyone help please?

If you make a material and assign a normal texture map to the Environment Map texture it can do what you want.  The map needs to be a representation of the entire scene that you want to reflect with the top being up, bottom down, left->middle->right the view all around you. It will not show up in the OpenGL views but will work in both the scanline and the ray trace renderers.
