A few suggestions...
« on: April 03, 2008, 10:31:00 am »

Here are a few ideas for the next Anim8or:
1. Ability to support 3dsMAX plugins...?
2. Make the plugins toolbar toolbar scrollable like the material toolbar...?
3. A few templates...?
4. Ability to import .SKP or .KMZ meshes from SketchUp or a SketchUp -> Anim8or add on for SketchUp...? I know it's possible through Blender, but it just gets annoying after a while and if this happens I can get rid of Blender.
Would any of these be possible or even likely?
Just curious.

3DSMAX plugins are for 3DSMAX
You must have a small screen if you can't see all the plugins, Steve might have to work on that
What do you mean templates?
Importing and/or add-ons maybe done by a user as a plug-in

Umm the plugin bar is scrolable. around 0.95b I asked Steve if he could make the plugin bar scrolable, if we have a lot of plugins. You just right click and drag the toolbar up or down. :)

3dsMax plugins are written specifically for 3ds max.  What I'm trying to say it, 3ds max has it own scripting language that no other program has.  That's why they're 3ds max plugins.  They're written specific to that program and its abilities.  Anim8or has a scripting language that I'm sure is nowhere close to the 3ds max scripting language, so I'd have to say that's a near impossible endeavor.

@hihosilver: Then why is it that other programs that aren't MAX are able to support MAX plugins?
@Tanzim: I have a 15-inch, 1024x768 screen, and yet I've got loads of plugins. By templates, I mean a few preset anim8or files, various misc objects, people, etc. I think that if someone has thought of something as important as SKP import, they would have done it by now.
@flametiger74: Thanks! I only have 0.95.

Ah, I wasn't aware that other programs supported Max plugins.  Perhaps that would make things different, but also be aware that Anim8or is completely programmed by one guy, his name is Steve.  So, updates don't come as fast as other programs or with as many new things.  But perhaps in the future it will be possible.  I guess now I have to let steve speak for himself on the subject ;)
