Files won't open directly.
« on: May 12, 2015, 09:57:19 am »

I have some figures that I made back when I was still using an earlier version of Anim8or.

There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the projects, but when I try clicking on the file to open it directly, it crashes. But it works fine when I start up Anim8or, click Open... and select the file from there.

It's not something I couldn't work around. It just seemed like a weird glitch.

Is your current version of the anim8or.exe set as the default app for the ".an8" file extension? To set the executable, right click on the name of your project in the file manager and select "Open with". Then browse to find anim8or.exe and select it. Make sure that the "Always use the selected program ..." box is checked.

If this doesn't work, send me the .an8 file and I'll take a look at it.

Also, what version of Anim8or are you running?

Anim8or version 1170 is set as the default for .an8 files. It just gets almost done loading the project file (Which doesn't take very long), and then crashes. But again, I can just start up Anim8or and open the project from there.

The project file is 2.37 MB, which I don't think I'll be able to send ATM. Having some problems with my internet.

Also, I just checked, it doesn't make any difference if I set version 1166 to open the file instead of 1170.

It's hard to find the problem without a test case. Is there anything different about this file (missing textures, or other parts, etc.)? Also try making a .zip file - that should be a lot smaller.

I can't find anything that would cause this. Maybe skinning weights for the limbs, but I didn't do any of that for Mega Man X, and it still has this problem.

Also, I don't know how to make a .zip file.

As far as I know you should be able to make a new folder to add all the files to it and then right click that folder and select Send to> Compressed (zipped) Folder in Windows. Hope that helps? The zip should appear in the same folder where the new folder was created.
