Converting Text Objects to Splines
« on: April 09, 2015, 02:58:49 pm »

Here is something that I have always wondered: Why is it that when text objects are converted to splines and then joined, smooth nodes are changed to corners? (example on the right)

So here is what I have discovered: If you convert a text object to a spline, nodes that have the appearance of being smooth are actually shown as corners in the "knot parameters" dialogue. When these splines are filled or extruded individually, they continue to have a smooth appearance. However, combining two or more splines causes all nodes to look like corners so that when filled or extruded, they don't have the desired appearance.

I'll fix this.  When I added support for Build->ConvertToMesh of splines I fixed a similar problem but I missed this.

#098-066 - Joining Splines converts all edges to straight lines.
