Anim8or Projects
« on: March 29, 2014, 04:44:16 pm »

Hello everyone, I figured I'd introduce (what feels like) many projects I have planned that revolve around Anim8or. Steve is actively developing Anim8or, so I am trying to actively contribute to the Anim8or environment.

I'm posting this because these are pretty large in scale and take time, so I want to avoid conflicts of interest and have a place to update my progress. These projects will be publicly released at each milestone in development.

If you have any questions or comments or requests, let me know, thanks.

Hey Raxx! Excellent work man!

And I'd be happy to share models I create with Anim8or  to the model repository.

I love modeling stuff with Anim8or more than any other 3d softwares

Good looking theme/logo Raxx. Will be great having FBX and Collada for game use.

All great news, particularly excited about the converter... I really enjoy animating in Anim8or and this would give the flexibility to render elsewhere if preferred.  Good on you for tackling this stuff, looks like rather a lot of work.

ronaldefarmer, I know you are ;) I'm starting its development today, I'll probably post a basic object viewer and forum mod first chance I get.

Josmic8or, I'll be glad for your contributions! I'll be putting nearly all of my stuff in there as well :)

CrashDrive, Unity is one of the programs I'm using to test the .DAE files (along with Blender, XSI Mod Tool, and Clockstone FBX viewer). Currently, mesh objects and their materials get converted properly. Figures are almost done (vertex weights on meshes only), getting a little weirdness here and there but it's lookin' good.

And Ensoniq, I'm hoping it'll be as simple as plugging it in to your preferred program and making a few adjustments. Influences, primitives, ASL, and other non-traditional elements may take some time to convert, however.

Thanks Steve and ianross, I totally agree ;)

Small update on the 3D viewer...things are going well. Meshes seem to be converting fine, and materials are pretty close to the original. When I have textures converted and loading, I'll start working on the styling and embeddable features :)

Sorry to dig up this fossil, but I'm curious how far the "Anim8or File Converter" has gotten. I have been working on a .an8 to .dae converter using C#. I don't want to re-invent the wheel if someone has already done it. Otherwise, it might be a good opportunity to collaborate. I think it would make a lot of sense to make this an open source library on github or similar.

I created Anim8orTransl8or on GitHub (https://github.com/Enumer8/Anim8orTransl8or). It can only convert meshes for now, but I think I understand enough about figures to implement them soon.

Sadly, these projects have fallen to the wayside. If I were to start over with the file converter, rather than going with Collada/DAE, I'd go with FBX using their official SDK, or for more expanded options I'd write a Python import script for Blender.

Oh... very cool
@Raxx and @Enumer8

by knownness I am studying animations using files like .MD2, .MD5 and .DAE ...

to conversion from .an8 for theses formats is need some thirds tools like:
-Ani2Pov
-MilkShape 3D
-Blender (+ plugins) etc.

it would be very good some plugin direct in Anim8or :)

i hope that this are implemented on future!
