what directory are files located?
« on: April 09, 2008, 01:31:25 am »

Hi,

very new to anim8or.  I've been running the tutuorials, made an animation, saved it, closed program.  When I reopen program, I can't find the animation.  The objects I created are there, but nothing else.  The only folder in the directory is "anim8or", but there are no subfolders that I can see (I.e., it's just the executable to start the program).  The object files are in the main directory.  Is this a glitch or am I not looking in the right place or trying to access correctly? Or did I just save it wrong and it didn't actually save?

many thanks,
mdf

My guess would be that you didn't actually save it.  When saving for the first time you'll always get a pop-up window asking where you want to save.  My guess is that your mistake was using 'ctrl + s'.  Animator does not have a save shortcut, so you have to go "file>save" each time.

naw---I did do a "File > Save As"

I'm going to build something new and see what happens.  Hopefully I just spaced and didn't hit save when I thought I did!

Thanks!

If the objects you made are in the file, have you looked under Mode > Scene to see if your animation isn't there as well ?

When closing Anim8or while working on a file which has not been saved lately, Anim8or will ask if you want to save the changes before it closes so if you clicked Yes then everything should still be in your file.
