Not bad for starters. You could apply some sub division to the stock and body part. Maybe move those cylinder objects forward farther away from the shoulder piece and integrate the hand grip into the body part. I would also like to see more material colors to accent the various gun parts. Nice work though. Leroy.

Thank you!

yes... those are vacuum tubes. It's from a steampunk book, A Darkling Plain.

I am currently in the process of unwrapping the model, but here it is with basic materials.

Coming along nicely, Deepthought.  The reason I ask about the tubes is because I have been looking around a  lot for them lately   ;D

would anyone be willing to help me unwrap a part?
I just need the circular ring part unwrapped. it's the only part with UV coords outside the 0-1 range and looks a bit like a pentagram.
Thanks!

Had a quick look, with idea of giving u a helping hand, but its one complete object and triangulated, might be better if you detached the actual object you want UV`d ( select a face of the object in question then under EDIT in the menu bar select detach faces or do keystroke D ) save it out as a separate object and resubmit.

EDIT

if this is the bit... zip is attached.

ok wrong one... here is the new one..

I textured the inner inner Rings, then the inner rings and finally the outers were left with the default ... if u place in UVmapper you can select each material then do a UV for each one.

hope it helps
oh and the model new ring thing...
