New Year, can we excpect some news?
« on: January 02, 2013, 11:43:31 am »

Hi everyone.

Long time since the last time i tried to see if this awsome software get any new version, but looks like its still with the version of 2009. Man, this break my heart...

~10 years ago(2003, i was 13) i was trying to get in the world of 3D Modeling. In that time, there was no clever, or cheap software or tutorial for a total beginner, and my english was much worse. Then, i find this. The only program simple enough for me to understand, and above that, the only one with a complete tutorial about 3D modeling in my language, beside very clever and simple. Half of everything i know of modeling I get from this program. The few video i made i get with this soft, and besides i moved for blender, i'm still not confortable. Anima8or is like my home, everything is so familiar and direct.

I tried do something that simple in 2D(im still working on this), but was really hoping for some advance in this project. I get really scared in 2010, on the project page get off air, but since it's back, i'm looking fowrad for what we can expect.

I can suggest thing like, make the code open-source, or look for developers to help steve, since he looks overloaded at the moment. I'm sure i can help, even with litle things like make the program accept translates in another languages.

I enter here and get impressed of what many of the users achieve with the resources they have, and i want is that they can get more. Please, Steve, just tell us if there is something we can expect for the future(near or not).

Hey bro, give Caligari Truespace 7.61 Beta 8 a try too. It's uses little icon based modeling tools with pictures on them. It's almost as easy as Anim8or to use and it's free too. Leroy.

Everyone would love a new release, but Steve must have a lot of other things keeping him busy just like the rest of us all.

It boggles my mind that people think Steve owes them an update to a program he gave/gives away for FREE!

So true...just don't hold your breath as Steve has a life outside of Anim8or. What would really rock is for Steve to release the source code or make it an open source project.

I don't ever remember anyone saying that Steve OWES them an update, but more or less that they just want an update.

What would really help up understand the situation with Steve and Anim8or would be if Steve actually posted information about whats going on. IE how much time he has, and why. What he's worked on, and why.
Kinda like a blog, but without the blog part. Though if Steve had a blog, I'd read it.

Hey, i'm not just here waiting, i have moved on, but is like that cartoon that you liked in childhood that never geted a proper end, just canceled. You will never accept the reason that why they just not, at least, put some closure to it. I almost sense that the anim8or was doomed when the anim8or.com gets off air some years back, but now thats up, its impossbile to not question: Are going somewhere further? If yes, in what direction?

I'm not here to say: "hey, what are doin'? time to get that update, don't you think". I'm here to say "whatever can i do, whatever that is needed to get more of this, i want to put effort in this, just point me the direction". I'm not here to bash anyone (atoulgh there is a lot of not very helpful people just waiting to do that), or to demand anything, im just sayng that aways will be someone just waiting to help, someone that will support in the means he can.

I have some unfinished projects myself, but time in times i stop and try to think "yesterday i could not put any effort on this, but today can i? I really can't do anything? nothing at all?" It's really difficult to another time take a look in something that neither i, the creator, barely remenber. And sometimes i fear that people dont will like any changes that i will do, but i have a worst fear. The fear of stop trying. The fear of being controlled by fear of the unknown.

Steve, if you're readind this, i just want you to know that we trust you, we believe in you, and even today, we are still here, giving the support that the community can give to the community. The path that you decide to give to this software, we will still be here, just waiting to follow it(and for you to tell us).
