Robot Unicorn [Laser Cutter] Prototype Complete!
« on: December 06, 2012, 12:55:10 pm »

After 6 attempts I finally have a stable figure! I cannot wait to finish the other 5 in the series. These, I hope, will be buyable sometime next semester.

Acrylic and then spray-painted? Looks nice, and I know it's just a prototype, but if you used tinted acrylic sheets it'd look better, the color would last longer with the moving parts, and you can match it closer to your original design (blue, white, red). Keep us updated!

I colored it like that because I needed to have it ready for presentation today in class. I currently use clear acrylic because I can get it for a good deal by showing them my student ID. Though if I can actually have success selling these then the next Generation would use higher Quality material.

I mean "Generation" as in like the Toa Mata to the Toa Nuva. On that note the, the First gen set have the limitation of only 1 axis joints.

Does anyone know of any way I can get ball and socket joints?

  • Couldn't ever use Blender or Maya. Anim8or's good.

Just a random thought- since Gen 1 only moves on one axis, what if they were called 'Dimensions' instead of Generations?
