Did you ever visit Lynn22s site ?  If you did you can now wave it goodbye, she has now given up on anim8or users and concentrates on a very busy Daz3D community.

So another site bites the dust!!

So sad!

Although Daz3D is still an art form I would have less satisfaction in posing premade models.

I remember when Lynn22 left this forum. Yup definitely sad.

CoriDavis is another I haven’t seen on here for awhile.
Can't believe it's been 2 years since her horse sang a Toby Mac song.
That brought a smile to my face.

I hope both venture back sometime.

TWO YEARS since that?? I think Cori will be back in a coupla weeks... Or at less I hope. It's great to watch Anim8or users grow as modelers, but it's definitely sad to see folks outgrow An8

I'm just getting started.  I have logged 10 hours with Anim8or today and I am not done yet.  I was working on an entry to Lynn's contest.  I assume with all this happening the contest is no more?    :-[

The ME Memorial Contest finished a Long Time ago, so I can`t see why you are still working on something that had passed by some time ago!! Drewi and I were finalists in that contest. see

I am now wondering whether to pull the plug on Anim8orWorld also, and concentrate on supported software  where the user base supports other sites.

Perhaps if you had been a little more active over there then it might not have happened, Her Main Gripe regards the support was that although she was getting loads of hits nobody was contributing anything, this also goes for my site, Lots of hits .. no substance

So it may be better for me to take a leaf out of her book and go where there is more support, lets face it Anim8or is near enough dead now in any case.

I think the fact the Anim8or forum registration had been down for so long didn't help.
That affected other Anim8or related sites as well.

But, it looks like new 'actual' members are on the rise.

For me, Anim8or is my number one modeling tool and as long as
I don't get any grief for using Blender for rendering I'll keep supporting Anim8or.

Headwax: anim8or was once a thriving community
then it split into two forums then four
then two
then one and a half,
then people couldn't register here

now they can but I guess t hey have stopped trying
all very sad
historically anim8or has always been for people starting off in 3d, then moving on
without new members the attrition takes it's toll

Man, now it's one of THOSE topics now....
Just be patient, and be surprised when an update comes out!!!

I think nearly 4 years now is being patient,  I have tried to contact Steve regards the broken link to animanon ( which is now Anim8orWorld for that amount of time as well without any success.

The registration is yes working again, But I notice that most of them are spammers and someone has to clean the site up every now and again, Raxx I expect as he is the only active Mod on here now , HiHoSilver, Kubajzz and Floyd86 seem to have departed.

Hmm

Anim8or was and still i s a great tool.
Of course it falls down in some respects - like the interface that Raxx made his tool thingy to update.
Unfortunately it didn't work for me in Vista but I can imagine it goes along way to making anim8or a much quicker modeller.

But all soft ware falls down somewhere...

Having modelled for years I only do simple modelling now - like a wheel barrow or a hat or something that I can't buy.
I've done the ropes _ I can make a reasonable figure in a few days - or I can buy one for a coupla bucks and morph it/texture it useing the skills that I learnt with anim8or.

Daz's Hexagon is now free, but anim8or has the advantage of having a simpler and more concise and intelligent tool set.
It's still ideal for the starting modeller - the only real thing I would like to see is soft select that doesn't have  to be done by using a script... (assuming that's how it is still done?)

You could make a fair amount of money being a modeller who made models with anim8or and sold them at Daz - box modelling especially would be fast and efficient with anim8or. You'd need another texture tool. Blacksmith 3d is presently haf price - but Uvmapper Pro is a good tool (thanks Raxxx!!!)

There's nothing wrong with anim8or. Even if Steve lets the community die it doesn't detract from the brilliant software he has made.
And it doesn't detract from the hundreds of modellers/3d people he must have helped launch on their Careers who I'm sure would thank him if they weren't too busy .....

cheers from Oz

I am certainly sorry to hear Lynn22's site is no more, it's never a good thing to see a project that someone has put a lot of time (and in many cases money) into collapse.  Unfortunately I am squarely in the group that is mainly to blame, due primarily to time constraints and a desire to put 100% into a single project rather than doing a half-assed job on a number of different projects.  Recently I have been focussing on the MBE project and to avoid the temptation of other contests, team projects etc. I have had to put blinkers on.  Frankly, I have let down enough people through not delivering on promises, mainly through biting off more than I could chew.  With the exception of this site, where I will always lurk in the (vain?) hope of seeing further developments to Anim8or, I have had to stay away from most other forums, which is very much to my own detriment as there is wonderful work being done.

I deeply respect those members of this and other communities who give freely of their time and money to assist the community, whether it be through site hosting, tutorial creation or admin duties, and I sincerely hope that such enthusiastic and generous souls continue this tradition, in spite of the lack of Anim8or progress, and I certainly encourage all new Anim8or users to make the most of all available resources.  I cannot possibly quantify the benefits I received from contributing to the old Animanon site when I was in a position to do so and it would be a sad day indeed if such resources were no longer available.

There is a larger world out there than this forum, as much as I love Anim8or, unfortunately it just got a little bit smaller with the loss of Lynn22's site.  For my own lack of support of her excellent site I am truly sorry, our loss is the DAZ site's gain.

(Also: totally agree with Headwax on the statement: "There's nothing wrong with anim8or. Even if Steve lets the community die it doesn't detract from the brilliant software he has made.
And it doesn't detract from the hundreds of modellers/3d people he must have helped launch on their Careers who I'm sure would thank him if they weren't too busy ....."
.  I couldn't agree more, Anim8or will remain an excellent modelling tool with some really brilliant workflow ideas, Steve should be enormously proud of what he's built.)

Cheers also from Oz.

Let it be known that I personally brought down Lynn's site by not contributing enough.   ;) ::)
