Hello,

If you are not getting a point, Do you hold down the shift key for the first point when in Object/Point Mode?

If you are and nothing is showing then there are possibly two things you could check.

1: Go to the menubar File/Configure GUI and make sure that Smooth Outline and Smooth Points are checked.

2: The Reference images you are using are not far over enough, In left or right view or back enough in front View

Hope this helps  8)

Thanks :)

Pressing shift works to turn it on and I was able to move on to outlining the nose
( in front view and side view).

Obviously he must said press shift (but the video didnt say that in words to read).
This is where I luck out on listening... have to do it all visually.

Then the program showed me to use the copy.. the square button to select my points on one side..
but it did not "show" me what to do in the following steps..

how to fill in and place in the other side.. (Mirror?)

Im sure he said it in the video but due to hearing loss.. Im not able to know what he said..
his screen suddenly showed his progress but no mouse action showing what he did to do that?

What do I need to do here?
I saved my progress till I find out..

Meanwhile Im reveiwing some tutorial on other anim8or projects like the hand, etc.

To Fill edges you can use either the menubar Edit/Fill Holes or preferably use the (keystroke shortcut Shift/j ). Ensure you are in Edge Mode ( Keystroke Shortcut e ), when you multi-select all the edges

Confirm  that all faces are coloured yellow, if any are blue then they are the wrong way round. You can flip them using the (Keystroke shortcut Shift/n). ( You must be in face mode( Keystroke Shortcut g) to flip any faces)

To mirror an object you use the menubar Build/mirror. Assuming you are in front view select the object then apply the mirror in x axis.

ok back at the project here last night.
I was able to do all the DOTs outline and have my face created...
only dont the DOT connects.. so the next part I need to do is perhaps convert to mesh?

The video showed the guy making the nose... suddenly it was colored.. he didnt show how that was done.
Again he prolly SAID it and due to my hearing loss.. I didnt catch it.

I need to finalize it..
Im at he moment between have the whole half of my head completed ( and before he had his nose painted and covering on his wireframe.

So I need to learn how to mirror the other half..
and how to finalize it such as convert to mesh and so forth...

I did tried the command to convert to mesh but its greyed out on my project.

I have done several tutoring session and did well..
most of it was from block or cylinder which then I wud convert to mesh...

Have not done a project from scratch without using block or cylinders.. so how do I get it ready for that?
also how to mirror the other half.

Thanks very much.

Are the Points connected to each other? If they are not then you are doing something wrong.

To start the process Hold down the shift key and click the left mouse button down immediately release the shift key BUT keep the left mouse button held down and drag. The line produced is an edge. You can now click the next point and drag to select the next edge, and so on
You are already in mesh mode, if you do not have any connecting lines (edges) then use edge mode (keystroke e)click on a point and drag, you should have a line appear, drag this to another point, the receiving point should turn red

This indicates that both points are connected. you need to do this with at least three points connected, then you can fill them with a face. Three edges connected are called Tris, however you should opt for four points connected called quads.

As my previous post states once you have your edges you can select them all then use shift/j to fill them (Coloured as you put it)

ok here how I did it..
In this case lets assume Im making a box with 4 corners without using the block.. just connecting with dots.

press SHIFT key, click mouse to make a point...
drag to next spot and click.  keep doing this...

When I come back to connect to a point already made.. the little white suqre of the point turns red and I click there...
from each points I have a line...

Now have a full enclosed box with four conters and connected and lines up.

I filled holes...

but can not fill in with colors?  like I can with the block methods.

Thanks

If you do it this way .... Hold shift key then click left mouse, but you will need to keep the left mouse held down as you release the shift key now drag you will have a edge that you can move, to the position you require then release the mouse button ( dont use the shift key for any thing else) now click the new point created and drag again to make another edge drag to where you want it and release, repeat these steps until you have a square.

Now got to edge mode, select all the edges(lines) and fill

hmmm thats exactly what Im doing? i press shift.. hold it in - click a point and hold down mouse button andrelease the shift.
I have a dot.  from there I can draw a line to the next coner and click there and continue another line to the next corner.. doing this intill all 4forners are connected.. and I make sure it sures red when I click a dot there.

4 connected dots and 12 lines visible.. makes a box.

then clicked fill holes.. -- still can not use edge mode to select all my dots, not even one?  and just a white screen where the grag was over the entire object.

MUST I press shift for every point?  because I only been doing that on the first dot.. and from there I can make more points and lines.

I will check back later tonte, its my bed time ( night worker here)
Thanks again

No u only hold the shift key for the first point.

Are you selecting all the edges ( does each line turn white)??

 edge select is keystroke e

Drag select (Keystroke d) all the edges , then use shift j to fill them. Do any fill?

Visual Aid:

4 connected dots and 12 lines visible.. makes a box.

Not sure why (or how) you have 12 lines and 4 connected dots. If you're trying to make a cube you need 8 points and 12 edges, and they need to be connected properly. You can create a cube using the Add Cube tool, convert it to mesh, and then look at it in point-edit mode to see how the points, edges, and faces are structured.

Also, the manual is a nice resource, and there are text-based tutorials available online that might be better for you than the video tutorials. Check the main anim8or.com website or google.

Thanks very much...
I was using the wrong button... followed hand tutor and it said the  button (like corner) next to the line then the dot.
You used the LINE button and so thats called the edge mode?  After selecting that line and drage copy.. all the lines tun white
and filled oles.  Now I cam add color to it...

Did apply this to my face project...
all the squares were filled in except for 2.. it was not fillin in..  So pretty good for a first face project out of scratch.
There must been 75 squares and triangles in my face alltogether..

-- about the 4 points in a square.. i meant to say 8, sorry for confusion.

Now when I was done.. I selected  the object mesh and chose build> mirrior>OK
Got the other half on  but its two objects now.
I need to connect them.

Thanks very much

ok.. after miirror.. I selceted  JOIN soilds.. that puts them together but have a open gaps between the two down the  front middle  front to the back...  then did BUILD>SUBDIVID FACE.. 3 times and it looks rather good.

Now I can try again more carefully where I put my points.
Thanks again for your helps guys.
Much appreciated

Once you mirror one side you connect them using Join Solids. then switch on point mode again select all the unconnected points and use shift/L a requester box with merge distance will appear, use the starting 0.5 distance to test it out and see what merges and what does not, then reapply to the unmerged points with higher or lower merge values.

Ctrl and Z is undo.... depending on how many undos you have allocated in Config, you can undo anything you make errors with.

You only need to use build/subdivide once.
